The PROTEO horse truck by Theault has been adapted from its European cousin for the Australian market.  PROTEO is available in 2 models - Proteo 3 and Proteo Stud.  Theault's catalogue of options allows you to tailor your Proteo to your individual requirements and choice of external finishes means that you can customise your vehicle to your personal taste, colours or turn it into a marketing tool with your corporate image.

Proteo is based on the Fiat Ducato providing a strong base for a sturdy vehicle.

The air-conditioned cab can take up to 3 people and is fitted with electric windows & mirrors, CD radio, driver & passenger airbags, adjustable driver comfort seat and a viewing window to the horse area which can be lined-up with the rear-view mirror to keep an eye on the horses.  The option is available to fit an internal surveillance camera with LCD screen in the cab to monitor the horses, this can be twinned with an external reversing camera for a better view while backing the truck up.

The horse area is accessed by an inviting low-level side ramp with double doors above.  Horses travel facing the rear, a concept which University studies have shown to allow the horse to balance better with horses exhibiting a lower level of stress than when transported in other orientations.   

Each Proteo is fitted with a sliding rail partition which allows the horse space to be transformed quickly and easily between 2-stalls and a single box.  The Proteo 3 horse area (pictured left) is fitted with Theault's standard sliding partition and quick-release breast-bar. The quick-release breast bar adds an extra safety feature while the removable access doors below can be slotted in and out as preferred.  Anti-slip rubber flooring provides a safe surface and is sealed with drainage for easy washing-out.  There are 5 opening ventilation windows in the walls of the horse area along with 3 opening roof ventilators and dual electric ventilators. 

The Proteo Stud horse area (pictured right) has 'chute' stalling with full-height partitioning all around, this can slide to a range for positions for easy transformation of the space from single box to 2 stalls.   The whole body of the horse is contained within the stall with no breast-bar separation.  This gives increased space particularly when transporting a mare and foal in box stall formation.  It is also offers greater security when travelling young horses.  The flooring and ventilation in the Proteo Stud is as in the Proteo 3.  All Proteo vehicles are equipped with a temperature gauge with digital readout in the cab so that you can easily monitor the ambience in the horse area.

At the rear of the vehicle, accessed through a wide door, is the storage area.  This can be fitted with tack racks.  Horses can also be tended from here.
